Following a recent weekend that saw Life With Fiona play two film festivals - Temecula Valley in Temecula, CA and Estes Park in Estes Park, CO - and add two more awards to their growing list in the process (winning both the Jury and Audience "Best Feature" prizes from Estes Park on September 16th), filmmakers Davis and Lobb were understandably excited at the news that their film was also the very first nominee ever for "Best International Feature Film" at the soon-to-be named International Feature and Shortfilm Festival of Rome (formerly known as the Il Corto Shortfilm Festival), the largest shorts festival in Europe and one of the biggest in the world.
Festival president Mr. Romano Francisci explained, "In the past 4 years we've screened more than 2200 short films in Rome, Florence, Pesaro, Naples, and Catania; everywhere we went we were asked when we would open to feature films. We decided it was the right time to rename the festival and to open to feature films that will now compete in 3 categories: Best International Feature Film, Best Director, and Best Cinematography. The selection was extremely difficult due to the high quality of all of the films."
Says Life With Fiona producer Davis: "The last few weeks have been the kind that get you through the tough ones, honestly. We had an amazing time playing to great audiences in Temecula and as the Opening Night Feature at Estes Park, so the two wins in Colorado were extra-sweet icing on the cake, and then to get a phone call from Italy informing us that we have to go to a black-tie awards gala in Rome this December almost feels like too much - but hey, we'll take it!" he laughs. Adds Lobb: "I'm eager to go to Rome because I understand they have really good Italian food there."
Life With Fiona follows office drone Scott Parker (Lobb) as he attempts to keep up with his new girlfriend, free-spirited wild child Fiona Cerny (Avery Clyde). Scott is a regular guy who\'s unlucky in love, and Fiona is his ideal woman: funny, beautiful, and sexually aggressive. Unfortunately for Scott, she\'s also completely insane.
